SpicyFamily Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15, 2026
This policy covers all apps published by SpicyFamily, including First Things Focus and Steady (along with Steady's companion apps, SteadyChild and the Steady Apple Watch app). Each app's specific data practices are described in its own section below. Practices that apply company-wide are described first.
This policy has not been reviewed by an attorney. If you have specific legal or compliance concerns, please consult one before relying on it.
Company-Wide Practices
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in any of our apps.
- Questions about this policy or any of our apps can be directed to support@spicyfamily.com or our Support page.
First Things Focus
First Things Focus does not require an account and does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information. All settings and data stay stored locally on your device only.
Third-Party Services: First Things Focus does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Children's Privacy: First Things Focus is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Children do not create accounts or communicate directly through the app.
Your Control: You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
Steady, SteadyChild, and Steady for Apple Watch
Steady is a family communication tool: a parent uses the Steady app, and their child uses SteadyChild (on iPhone) or the Steady Apple Watch app to send simple status alerts (e.g., "I need a break") that the parent receives as a push notification and can reply to.
Unlike First Things Focus, Steady requires an account for the parent and stores limited data on our servers to make family communication work. Here is exactly what is collected, why, and who can see it.
What We Collect
From the parent (Steady app):
- Apple ID identifier, via Sign in with Apple. We request no additional information — not your name, not your email — only a unique identifier used to recognize your account on return visits.
- Push notification device token, used solely to deliver alerts to your device.
- Device platform (iPhone or iPad).
From the child's device (SteadyChild or Steady for Apple Watch):
- Battery level and charging status — used only to notify the parent if the child's device battery is low.
- Device name and platform — a label so the parent can identify which device sent an alert.
- Alert data — which button was pressed, when, and the parent's reply text, if any.
- Push notification device token, used solely to deliver alerts and replies to that device.
A child's device does not create its own account and does not sign in with Apple, Google, or any other identity provider. It is linked to the parent's family only via a temporary 6-character pairing code entered once during setup.
We do not collect: your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, health data, or microphone/camera access. Steady does not request or use any location data.
How Data Is Shared
Battery status and alert data are shared only within your own family — specifically, with the parent's device that the child's device is paired to. This sharing is the core function of the app; there is no way to opt out of it while remaining paired. We do not share this data with any outside third party, and we do not use it for advertising or analytics.
Where Data Is Stored
Data is stored on servers we operate (hosted on Fly.io infrastructure). Push notifications are delivered via Apple's Push Notification service, which is required for any iOS app that sends notifications.
Third-Party Services
Steady does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Your Control and Data Deletion
The parent can permanently delete their account at any time from within the Steady app (Settings → Delete My Account). This immediately and permanently deletes the parent's account, all paired devices, and all alert history associated with the family. This action cannot be undone.
You can also request deletion by contacting support@spicyfamily.com.
Children's Privacy
Steady is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian, for use in communicating with their own child. A child using SteadyChild or the Steady Apple Watch app does not create an account, does not provide any personal information directly, and cannot access or change what data is shared — only the parent can do that, including deleting all of it at any time.
