Our story

Built by a spicy family, for spicy families.

SpicyFamily started because we couldn't find the tools we needed. So we built them.

Where it started

Like many families, our family struggles with ADHD.

There are a lot of ways to describe neurodivergence — neuro-wonderful, neuro-atypical, and plenty of others. Our favorite is neuro-SPICY. Because in our experience, these differences don't diminish life — they add flavor to it. That's where the name SpicyFamily comes from.

We also knew that screens and devices aren't going anywhere — and honestly, we don't want them to. The goal was never to eliminate technology from our kids' lives, but to find ways to make it work for our family rather than against us. When we looked for tools that could help with that, though, we kept hitting the same wall.

The apps that existed were either punitive (take everything away) or passive (set a timer and hope). Neither worked for kids who struggle with transitions, who need predictability, who can't just "stop" when a timer goes off.

We wanted something that built a bridge — a routine that made sense, that felt fair, that kids could actually internalize over time. When we couldn't find it, we built First Things Focus.

Screen time isn't just a time problem. It's a regulation problem.

What we believe

Neurodivergent kids don't need to be fixed. They need tools that work with how their brains actually function.

Structure is a gift

Predictability isn't a cage — for many kids, it's freedom. Knowing what comes next reduces anxiety, prevents meltdowns, and builds confidence.

Warmth over punishment

We design everything to feel encouraging, not punitive. Kids should feel supported by the tools in their lives, not controlled by them.

Parents know their kids

No algorithm knows your child better than you do. Our tools give you control, not a one-size-fits-all prescription.

Small habits, big change

Executive function is a skill, not a trait. It can be practiced. We build tools that make that practice happen naturally, every day.

Who we are

We're a small, independent team — mostly parents, mostly neurodivergent ourselves. We don't have a big corporate office. We have a group chat and a shared obsession with building things that actually help.

The SpicyFamily Team

Builders, parents, advocates

We're parents of neurodivergent kids who got tired of waiting for someone else to build the tools we needed. Every feature we ship comes from a real problem we've lived.

You're not alone

Parenting a neurodivergent kid can feel isolating — especially when the advice you find online doesn't apply to your child. We built SpicyFamily to be a place where that changes. Our apps are just the start.
